Roll Cages and Harness Bars

 

In motorsport, safety is the first priority - we have a range of safety structures and bars for all models of Lotus Elise and Exige, which can be supplied, painted and fitted for any application. Track days also require a reasonable minimum standard of occupant safety, we cater for this too with easily installed harness bars to allow the simple fitment of racing harnesses to keep occupants secure in the event of an accident.

 

Elise/Exige S1 - S1 models have found themselves in various forms of national and international motorsport over the years, and as a result a number of approved safety items exist for these cars. We can supply and fit an FIA certificated four-poing A-frame assembly, or an FIA Appendix J approved full six-point roll cage approved for motorsport applications in Europe. We also offer a basic harness bar assembly which is ideal for track days to allow secure fixing of multi-point racng harnesses, this can be painted to contrast the interior or supplied in a neutral color.

 

Elise/Exige S2 - Thanks to our own development, the S2 models are also quite well catered for in terms of motorsport and track safety equipment, as with the S1, we can supply, paint and fit a full six point roll cage as well as a more simple four-point roll hoop assembly. Again as with the S1 a plain harness bar is available to cater for light track day use without the intrusion of a full cage or roll hoop.

Seats & Harnesses

 

Motorsport Seats for Road and Track - Staying in the optimum driving position is essential for precise and controlled response in both motorsport, and trackday activity - to aid this, we can supply and fit a number of popular seats known to fit cleanly within the confines of both the Elise and Exige cabins. A popular seat is the genuine Lotus Motorsport item, these are available from us as a bare shell and can be trimmed in any material and color required, thanks to our links with top quality trimmers. While not FIA approved these seats are superb for trackday use or as an enhancement for road cars. Other seats popular in competition are available from us, including ultra lightweight carbon seats from Tillett and Mog-Racing.

 

Harnesses - We have close links with a number of harness suppliers, and we recommend using either Schroth or Willans for motorsport applications, four and five point harnesses are available and can be fitted in combination with factory seat belts for road cars, or for exclusive use with the factory belts removed.

 

Fire & Electrical Safety

 

Getting the basics right - Electrical isolation and Fire suppression are two systems you want on your side when involved in trackdays or motorsport. We have first hand experience of real world motorsport and only supply and fit systems that offer the highest degree of occupant safety in the event of an incident.

 

Electrical Isolation - Two methods of electrical isolation are available, a solid state electrical isolator circuit or a traditional mechanically controlled isolator kill switch. The most popular isolator circuit system is the Cartek, as recommended for use in the Lotus Elise Trophy, this is a totally sealed system with two buttons to activate, one for interior and one for exterior.

 

Fire Safety - Track and Motorsport activity is dangerous, and while nobody wants to consider what can go wrong, its nice to know there are systems in place that can take care of things for you - should the unthinkable happen. We recommend the use of modern gas fire suppression systems as these leave no trace in the vehicle should they need to be deployed. Full installation service is available and can be performed in a matter of hours.
